Anaerobic Digestion
Having successfully developed compost sites and recognising the requirement for green energy production in the UK to meet the energy gap, Material Change have now moved into the Anaerobic Digestion market, identifying this as an ideal way in which to generate green electricity and help meet the UK’s energy gap. Material Change are currently installing several Anaerobic Digestion plants in the UK, located in Suffolk and Northamptonshire. Following detailed investigation into the various AD Plant suppliers, Material Change has been appointed as UK Cooperation Partner of Agraferm Technologies AG (Agraferm) based in Pfaffenhoffen, near Munich in Germany, to supply, deliver and install Agraferm AD plants in the UK. Building work on the first plant has already commenced and the site should be operational towards the end of 2011.
These farm AD plants process a combination of grown crop and non ABPR materials to produce heat and electricity. Agraferm’s technology is robust and has an excellent track record, performing repeatedly in the top 5 plants in Germany. In addition to operating their own sites, Agraferm are contracted to manage over 100 competitor sites and have a proven record of improving performance of AD plants. Agraferm has an active joint venture with E.ON and is developing sites across Europe. Material Change are thrilled to be working with Agraferm and to be able to introduce this cutting edge technology to the UK.
The Material Change team has expertise in grant and planning applications for AD projects and a wealth of experience in the government incentives for green energy and heat production. We have also sourced long term contacts for heat and electricity sales. If you require any assistance with an AD project, be it technology, planning or advice on FITs and ROCs or energy and heat sales, Material Change is here to help.
