AD Plant Feedstock Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Material Change for a Feedstock Manager within our feedstock supply team to assist with the procurement of feedstocks for our Rainworth AD plant at Rufford. The role may also involve procuring feedstocks for other AD plants in the MCL portfolio as may be required.

Reporting to the MCL Commercial Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Procuring feedstock contracts for maize wheat rye and grass as well as other suitable energy crops from growers local to the site, including managing contract negotiations
  • Management of export of solid and liquid digestate from the site and arranging for digestate storage during the NVZ closed period
  • Collate and manage sustainability data relating to the harvested crops of Ofgem submissions
  • Field walks with the agronomists.
  • Consult with Growers throughout the growing season.
  • Make Harvest plans for contractors (to include Grass, Rye and Maize) and manage the harvesting and clamping process including managing all harvesting data.
  • Sales of compost

The role will include interacting with customers both commercial and agricultural

Requirements:

  • Experience as a feedstock manager
  • Understanding of agriculture and growing of Energy crops
  • Be able to work alone and part of a team.
  • Good computer skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills with people
  • Clean Full UK driving licence is essential.

Farming Feedstock Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic Farming Feedstock Manager who will be responsible for managing our rented land farming operation, growing and cultivating our own crops for our AD operations across the Norfolk region based from our Euston AD plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of rented land farming operation for maize rye and grass cultivation; including the use of solid and liquid digestate.
  • Field walks with the agronomists.
  • Organize cultivations for drilling.
  • Consult with Growers throughout the growing season.
  • Make Harvest plans for contractors (to include Grass, Rye and Maize) and oversee and manage the harvest operation
  • Record data from all contractors.
  • Organize Weighbridge cover for 5 sites during harvest periods.
  • Arrange logistics for satellite clamp movements
  • Assist with collation of Sustainability Data.
  • Assist in procuring other suitable AD feedstocks
  • Assist with feedstock reporting and monitoring

Skills and Experience needed for the role:

  • farming experience, particularly experience of cultivation harvesting and ensiling of maize and rye

Location: Euston, IP24 2QP but will include management of feedstock in Norfolk and Suffolk region

Salary: £40 – 45k depending on experience plus commercial vehicle and benefits

AD Plant Operator

The candidate will be responsible for AD plant operations, daily maintenance, monitoring of plant and machinery and ADHOC duties as and when required. Maintenance experience and knowledge of anaerobic digestion and/or waste treatment will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

  • Loading hopper with feed stock
  • Site maintenance (ensuring that the site is clean and tidy)
  • Daily reporting
  • Daily checks
  • Assisting with reports on the AD Plant

Reporting to the AD Site Manager, you will be reliable and hardworking. This is a hands-on role working with agricultural machinery. Some computer work is also required as part of the role.

Key points:

  • Driver’s license is essential.
  • Telescopic Handler operator ticket preferable

This is a full-time position. Weekend rota cover will be required as part of the role. Overtime for holiday and sickness cover will be required when necessary. Material Change believes in staff training and development and there is opportunity for career development within our organisation.


Compost Site Operator

Material Change Limited has over 18 years’ experience in recycling organic waste. With 6 compost sites across the Midlands and East of England we provide quality assured Compost, Mulch and Bark to landscapers, Gardeners and Local Authorities. We produce agricultural grade compost for farmers and manage 8 anaerobic digestion plants across the UK.

The successful candidate will join a team who are responsible for the processing of green waste producing our PAS:100 certified Compost.

As part of the role, you will be required to operate loading shovel, telehandler and 360 and shred, screen and windrow green waste material. You will also assist in the waste transfer shed loading out material and will be required to assist with site daily checks, plant and machinery daily maintenance, carry out odour monitoring off site and assist with all general site operations, weighbridge cover and yard duties.

Mobile plant experience essential (although training on some of the above machines can be provided where you do not have experience of all of them). Composting experience is an advantage but not essential. Training and PPE will be provided.

Requirements:

  • Experience – Loading Shovel / Telescopic Handler
  • Good Awareness of Health and Safety
  • Ability to work alone and be self-motivated
  • Good time keeping
  • Accurate record keeping
