AD Facility
Euston Biogas Ltd is set in a rural location 4 miles south of Thetford on the Euston Estate in Suffolk.
Euston AD site was commissioned in 2015 and is connected to a high pressure gas main which could take as much as 1,000m3/hour. Euston AD is currently injecting over 600m3/hr gas into the grid. Further investment will add carbon dioxide liquification and subsequent sale to local businesses. In combination, Bay Farm & Euston will produce c. 95,000 MWh of power per annum, which is the energy equivalent of powering 30,000 homes in the UK
The Euston site is also at the forefront of depropanation which allows the gas to be injected into the grid without propane blending. With only 1 other site in the country operating with a similar system, on the basis of the Euston development more sites may be able to benefit from the environmental and economic savings in future.
The site sources feedstock from local farms and much of the digestate goes to land in Breckland where the sandy soils need all the organic matter that is available to prevent erosion and become productive.
Material Change has long term contracts to supply feedstock, remove digestate and provide management and operations for all activities on site.
