Anaerobic Digestion Plants

Material Change operates 10 Anaerobic Digestion sites; generating 9.4MW of electrical output and over 1,900m³/hour of cleaned gas into the national grid. This is enough electricity to power 28,500 homes – or 68,000 residents based on 2.4 per home.

Material Change managed the site construction and now manages all elements of the operation. Our team has many years of hands-on experience of Anaerobic Digestion operations including:

We are able to offer management contracts to Anaerobic Digestion Plant owners who want technical, operational or regulatory support from an operator who understands that theory and practice need to work hand in hand.

Material Change use over 250,000T of sustainably grown crops and produce 80,000T of digestate per annum. We are always keen to talk to farmers who want to grow crops for the site and enjoy the agricultural benefits of a good break crop, helping them control black grass and other weeds. We are also keen to talk to farmers interested in using digestate to improve their soil structure and reduce their artificial fertilizer costs.

Material Change has supplied digestate to various agricultural and horticultural trials helping strawberry growers improve yields and grow tasty fruit.
