Wight Farm Energy is set in a rural location central to the Isle of Wight in Arreton on a greenfield site. Wight Farm Energy AD site was commissioned in 2014 and is connected to a high pressure gas main which could take as much as 672 /hour. Wight Farm Energy AD is currently injecting over 600m3/hr gas into the grid. The system also recovers carbon dioxide through liquification and subsequent sale to mainland businesses. The facility is configured for an output of five megawatts of gas power, with a 250 kW combined heat and power unit to supply its own energy demand.
The site sources feedstock from local farms and all of the digestate goes to land on the Isle of Wight where the wide range soil types need all the organic matter that is available to help improve soil structure and increase productivity.
Material Change has long term contracts to supply feedstock, remove digestate and provide management and operations for all activities on site.
