Faldo Farm Compost Facility
The Faldo Farm Compost facility is a purpose built green waste recycling site located at Faldo Road, Barton le Clay Barton-le-Clay, Bedford, MK45 4RF.
This site is permitted to receive 25,000 tonnes per annum of degradable household and processes 10,000 tonnes of green waste per year primarily kerbside collected waste from Luton Council. Incoming green waste is shredded and windrowed prior to screening at 28mm. All oversize is re-processed. A total period of not less than 6 weeks’ elapses before material can be exported to allow sanitisation and stabilisation of the compost which is then sold to landscapers and used as a fertilizer for the adjoining farm fields.
This site operates to PAS:100 & Compost Quality Protocol standards and all material produced is classed as product.
Our Faldo Green compost is a soil improver and excellent source of major nutrients such as phosphate, potash, magnesium, sulphur, manganese – and trace elements. Each tonne of Faldo PAS:100 compost is worth £5.67/t in crop available nitrogen, total phosphate, and total potash. An application of 31.4 t/ha will supply around £178/ha of tangible value; but the true value to soils is gained from the 9.3t/ha of longer lasting organic matter added.
