AD Operations Manager – East
Location based in: East Anglia, preferably Suffolk, Norfolk region.
Full time – 47.5 hours week
Material Change Limited has over 18 years’ experience in recycling and energy generation industry. We operate and manage 11 Anaerobic Digestion plants across the UK processing more than 380,000t of organic material and food waste to generate renewable gas, electricity and CO2. We clear and sell over 500,000t of chicken litter as a renewable feedstock and fertilizer replacement. With 6 compost sites across the Midlands and East of England we provide quality assured and farm grade Compost, Mulch and Bark to landscapers, Gardeners, Local Farmers and Local Authorities.

We are seeking an experienced AD Operations Manager, reporting to the MCLGroup AD Operations Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the MCL Group AD Operations Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Oversight over AD site operations at 2 gas to grid, 3 CHP sites with holiday and sickness cover where required
- Responsible for ensuring the company business plan and objectives are delivered
- Identifying and delivering operational performance enhancements to enhance site EBITDA
- Interfacing with support functions on all elements of site performance
- Assisting finance team with site budgeting and reviewing monthly accounts
- Recruiting, managing and motivating AD site teams
- Oversight over plant and machinery required for operations working with the Mobile plant Manager
- Drive site day to day planned maintenance and managing maintenance programme working with the Maintenance Manager to identify improvements
- Liaising with feedstock providers, waste feedstock suppliers and maximizing plant output based on feedstock regimes (with support from our Technical Manager)
- Ensuring the on-site culture matches that of the wider business and completing appraisals to reinforce the company ethos and support staff development
- Managing site Health and Safety system and training including toolbox talks, permitting and RAMs
- Liaising with EA, Planners with support from compliance team

We are looking for an AD maintenance Engineer to support our Maintenance team with planned and reactive maintenance across plants
Reporting to the MCL Maintenance Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Day to day planned maintenance incl. weekly, monthly and 6 monthly and annual
- Degritting tanks and bigger projects
- Breakdowns
- Creating H&S documents in line with site procedures for activities undertaken
- Assisting with maintenance reviews and site projects
- Managing and contributing to the Maintenance tracker as well as Shared resources such as critical spares
- From time to time feeding hoppers with feedstock to assist site operations
- Liaise with and assist contractors with maintenance on site
- Leading and assisting with repairs on the AD plants
- Follow company H&S protocols
- Maintaining/collect records / database related to site maintenance
- Keeping CMMS update

Composting Area Manager
A position has arisen of a Composting Area Manager to expand the business operations whilst managing & support our existing composting sites throughout England.
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Identify new sites for compost
- Development of current sites
- Ensure all Compost Sites are compliant with Environment Agency standards
- Assisting finance team with site budgeting for all Compost sites.
- Organising compost awareness days
- Emergency and holiday site cover, as required
- Managing and motivating compost site teams and all plant and machinery required for operations
- Undertaking Toolbox talks at Compost Sites.
- Work with H&S Manager, Safety systems and support training needs and awareness
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

Sales Manager – Compost & Digestate
A position has arisen at Material Change for a Compost & Digestate Sales Manager to expand the business operations in addition to generate sales leads and prepare documentation for Compost & Digestate sales for all sites across the company.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for making sales of compost & digestate to local farmers, landscapers and other third parties to take compost & digestate from sites in the UK.
Key duties will include:
- Farm Compost Sales
- Digestate Sales
- Telephone and email enquiries
- Liaising with the customers and yard employees
- Monthly sales spreadsheets Board
The role will be remote based but you will be expected to travel to potential customers in order to sell compost. You will need to be self-motivated and driven to meet or exceed sales targets. A background in agriculture or composting would be an advantage. Full driving license essential. Salary and package commensurate with experience.
Management Accountant
As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting monthly management accounts for four companies within the group, as well as financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, and other accounting tasks. You will also support the Finance Director and Project Accountants with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and sustainability reporting.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
- AAT qualification or part CIMA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a multi-company environment
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards, principles, and practices
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, etc.)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Interest in environmental and sustainability issues
This is a Fixed Term Contract (12 months), office-based role, located near Needham Market, Ipswich. You will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility.
AD Plant Operator
The candidate will be responsible for AD plant operations, daily maintenance, monitoring of plant and machinery and ADHOC duties as and when required. Maintenance experience and knowledge of anaerobic digestion and/or waste treatment will be advantageous.
Key responsibilities:
- Loading hopper with feed stock
- Site maintenance (ensuring that the site is clean and tidy)
- Daily reporting
- Daily checks
- Assisting with reports on the AD Plant
Reporting to the AD Site Manager, you will be reliable and hardworking. This is a hands-on role working with agricultural machinery. Some computer work is also required as part of the role.
Key points:
- Driver’s license is essential.
- Telescopic Handler operator ticket preferable
This is a full-time position. Weekend rota cover will be required as part of the role. Overtime for holiday and sickness cover will be required when necessary. Material Change believes in staff training and development and there is opportunity for career development within our organisation.
Compost Site Operator
Material Change Limited has over 18 years’ experience in recycling organic waste. With 6 compost sites across the Midlands and East of England we provide quality assured Compost, Mulch and Bark to landscapers, Gardeners and Local Authorities. We produce agricultural grade compost for farmers and manage 8 anaerobic digestion plants across the UK.
The successful candidate will join a team who are responsible for the processing of green waste producing our PAS:100 certified Compost.
As part of the role, you will be required to operate loading shovel, telehandler and 360 and shred, screen and windrow green waste material. You will also assist in the waste transfer shed loading out material and will be required to assist with site daily checks, plant and machinery daily maintenance, carry out odour monitoring off site and assist with all general site operations, weighbridge cover and yard duties.
Mobile plant experience essential (although training on some of the above machines can be provided where you do not have experience of all of them). Composting experience is an advantage but not essential. Training and PPE will be provided.
Requirements:
