AD Facility
Langage AD is set within the picturesque Devon countryside. From its development in 2010 to opening in 2011, it was among the UK’s pioneering food-waste anaerobic digestion (AD) plants, helping to set the standard for others in the industry.
Since then, Langage has supported its own dairy farm—home to 400 Jersey cows—as well as neighbouring farms by supplying PAS110-quality fertiliser. It also provides renewable electricity to the dairy, which produces its award-winning Langage Devon clotted cream and ice cream.
The site currently operates one 500 kW engine and one 300 kW engine, running entirely on food waste collected from local councils and the hospitality sector. In addition, Langage includes a bulking facility for redistributing surplus food waste to other AD plants, along with a glass recycling bay for processing and onward transport.
In December 2025, Langage became part of BioticNRG, marking an exciting new chapter. With fresh investment and plans for expansion, this transition is set to strengthen and secure Langage’s future.
