International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW)
May 8, 2018
International Compost Awareness Week 2018: 6th May – 12th May
Material Change kicked off the week with another annual event of giving away compost.
This was the 11th consecutive year that Material Change and Babergh & Mid Suffolk Council joined to offer free compost to those who wanted to come and collect some at Needham Lakes, in Suffolk, on Sunday 6th May. Material Change dropped just over 50 tonnes of compost at Mill Meadow on Friday, in preparation for Sunday’s event.
The weather was perfect which certainly encouraged people to pop along and fill containers and bags with the rich PAS100 compost that we produce. The event was due to start at 9.00am, but with queues of cars waiting patiently to get in, the gates had to be opened 8.45am. Over 165 cars were recorded coming on to site. The event continued through until 3.00pm.
We had two of Material Change representatives there, Simon and Emma who said “It was a lovely atmosphere and great to see so many people taking advantage of the free compost”
