LEAF Open Farm Sunday 2018
June 12, 2018
On Sunday 10th June, Scarff’s farm in Combs, Suffolk, opened their farm gates to the public as part of the LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) Open Farm Sunday 2018.
Over 500 people came through the gates to view and take part in the farming activities. We were there on the day with our stand, showing samples of Compost, Playground Barks, Mulch and Ornamental Barks that we supply to the public and trade, including the Farm Grade Compost that we supply to Mr Scarff for use on his land.
We also had one of the council’s brown ‘green waste’ bins, demonstrating what can be put in them. The brown ‘green waste’ bins (240L in size) are available for a small annual fee through your local council. You can have as many brown bins as you’d like. They are emptied every fortnight by your local council. This is then brought into our sites for us to turn into compost. We have two grades of compost; 0-12mm and 0-40mm. The 0-40mm grade is what the farmers use on their land.
If you would like to order a brown ‘green waste’ bin, please contact Babergh and Mid Suffolk Council. For more information, please see their website.
It was a great day and the weather was perfect!
