Following on from last year’s successful compost giveaway, we are doing it all again!

Helmdon Compost Site

On Saturday 20th April we will be holding our annual Compost Giveaway event. Last year was cold and wet so we are hoping for better weather this year.

Why don’t you come down and bring a shovel and bags to take advantage of this event. This is a great chance for you to try our compost Free of Charge. We are confident you will like the results it will bring to your garden.

We will also be having our Digestate available for you to trial which is from our Anaerobic Digestion Plant on-site at Helmdon.

Material Change have been recycling organic waste for over 16 years, turning it into a valuable nutrient rich Soil Improver containing    phosphate, potash, magnesium, manganese, small amounts of Nitrogen and trace elements. The compost is made from the green waste and clean wood waste which is brought into our site. Incoming green waste is shredded and windrowed prior to screening at 25mm. All oversize is re-processed. A total period of not less than 8 weeks’ elapses before material can be exported to allow sanitisation and stabilisation of the compost meaning our Soil Improver is certified PAS:100, ensuring safe handling for you and your garden.

The Digestate comes from our Anaerobic Digestion plant which is on the on the same site. Digestate by-product of the Maize, Rye and Grass which is used in the plant. The Site produces 20,000 tonnes a year of digestate which is used by the farms that grew the crops to feed the AD plant. Digestate is a rich in nutrients.

Our compost site manager; Mr Jason Payne will be on site to answer any queries.
