Material Change are proud to help the Crisis in Ukraine. Over the past week, our sites have become collection sites for us to transport donations for Ukraine to an Ipwich Freight Company – Anchor Freight Ipswich, where donations are being sorted and transported via road to Dover, aross the English Channel to Calais and continuing to make their way to a contact on the Ukrainian Border. We are pulling together for people in Crisis.

Several staff members from Material Change and the Heathpatch group volunteered their time and effort to collect and take donated items to Anchor Freight on Thursday 10th March. We collected, we unloaded, we sorted and cared for the donations given by the public. There were many sections of donations, including a ‘PETS’ section. I personally was overwhelmed when sorting through items, I came across a bag with 3 teddy bears each in clear bag within. Each had a note from 3 children…

One of them said ‘This is one of my favourite teddies. I love him very much. Please look after him…’

This was very touching and hit home that this conflict effects adults, children and pets!

Michael and Donelle helped with the transportation and collection of donations from our Helmdon site and local school – Syresham Primary School – all the way through to our Creeting St Mary site in Suffolk where our Creeting St Mary team packed the sheep trailer and followed it down to the Ipswich Freight company to continue with the unpacking and sorting for the evening.

Well done to everyone who donated and participated in the delivery and sorting at Ipswich.
